Eating out in SA: The Teapot Deli

Welcome to The Teapot Deli (CNB 2011)

Now that Shah Alam is home since the last 4 years, there are a few places here that have become favourites when eating out. One of them is The Teapot Deli, in the SACC Mall  (in the city centre, section 14). The decor and ambience is quite English, I think. Painted teapots are the main decor item here (of course) and there are teapots lining the shelves, and above and behind the counter area. There are also 'country side' oil paintings of flowers and gardens (by local artist Meriam Omar) adding to the general beauty of the eatery.

The food served is English cuisine and local as well. So whenever I feel like some good olde English fare, I head for this little deli. Their fish and chips, the quintessential  English food, is okay and filling, the roast beef/lamb/chicken is good, but my favourites are the fish pie (fish in white sauce baked in puff pastry with boiled carrots and broccoli) and country beef/chicken pie (served with mushroom in brown sauce, peas, carrots and chips.

Side orders include cheese on toast, mini quiche and mini chicken pie, also beef and chicken sandwiches.
For dessert, there are cakes (butter/baked cheese/carrot/Victoria sandwich), the ever popular bread and butter pudding, the trifle, and the cream tea: tea with scones, clotted cream and raspberry jam. Yummy, delish! For tea, the choices are Earl Grey, English breakfast, Darjeeling, Chamomile, Peppermint and Jasmine green tea. Or teh tarik. Enjoy!
